What was the highlight of Santa Barbara Golf and Ocean Club
Exceptional
Overall, the hotel initially made a good impression: cleanliness, comfortable rooms, and well-maintained grounds—there were no complaints in these areas.
However, an incident completely ruined our stay and left us deeply disappointed. Money was stolen from the safe in our room. We always stored our valuables in the safe, but on one occasion, we accidentally left it unlocked when we left the room. Upon returning, we noticed no signs of intrusion, and the safe appeared untouched, so we didn’t immediately check its contents. Later, after returning home, we discovered that a significant amount of money was missing. We immediately contacted the hotel management to ask for help and an investigation. Unfortunately, their response was cold and formal. We were told that, according to the electronic lock records, no one but us had entered the room, and no further action would be taken. Moreover, the hotel claimed it was not responsible for items left in an unlocked safe and offered no support or solutions. This dismissive attitude and complete unwillingness to address the situation left us extremely frustrated. We are certain the theft occurred in the hotel because: • The money was stored in the safe, carefully packed. • We used only our bank card for all payments during our stay. • Only hotel staff could have had access to the room. • Management refused to check CCTV footage or take any action. Such negligence and disregard for guests’ concerns are absolutely unacceptable for a hotel that claims to provide high-level service. We believe the hotel staff should have at least made an effort to investigate rather than dismiss our complaint. We will never stay at this hotel again and strongly advise others to be cautious. If something similar happens to you, don’t expect any help or support from the management.
